Before Today's Chrysler 300

Chrysler first introduced the 300 back in 1955, and with the debut of that high-performance 4-seater some would say the idea of the muscle car was born. Over the next 10 years, Chrysler would bring to market a range of 300s now referred to as the "letter series," starting with that first 300 and continuing on with the 300B, 300C, 300D - a new letter every year with the final 300L in 1965. These special Chryslers were among the fastest production cars on the road, equipped with the latest in luxury features.

Which 2016 Chrysler 300 Model Is The Best?

This year's Chrysler 300 is available in 4 different models:

  • Chrysler 300 Limited
  • Chrysler 300S
  • Chrysler 300C
  • Chrysler 300C Platinum

For starters, all 2016 Chrysler 300 models come with the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This option gives drivers the ability to immediately decide between what better fits their desired driving experience. In addition to having drivetrain options, all 300 models come standard with up to 31 MPG, 8.4-inch touchscreen Uconnect multimedia system, heated leather seats, ParkView™ Rear Back-Up, and countless more luxury and safety features.

To better help you decide on a Chrysler 300 model that fits your situation, we've listed each trim below with information that'll help you with decision making.

2016 Chrysler 300 Limited

Chrysler calls this "entry" level trim "Limited", but there's nothing limited about what you get as standard equipment. Aside from being the most affordable trim with a base MSRP of $32,015, the 2016 Chrysler 300 Limited thrives with its 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 292 horsepower, 260-lb ft. of torque, standard 17-inch rims, Keyless GO™, 8.4-Inch Touchscreen Display, and more.

2016 Chrysler 300S

The Chrysler 300S is the next step up from the Limited model and has a starting MSRP of  $35,070. In addition to the features available on the Limited model, the 300S includes standard leather-trimmed sport bucket seats, remote start, and the option to upgrade to a 5.7-liter V8 HEMI® engine.

2016 Chrysler 300C

The Chrysler 300C is the third trim in the 2016 Chrysler 300 model lineup and has a starting MSRP of $38,420. The 300C adds an extra layer of luxury with features such as a standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof, leather with perforated insert bucket seats, heated second-row seats. and a 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen navigation and multimedia system.

2016 Chrysler 300C Platinum

The Chrysler 300C Platinum is the top of the line model for the 2016 Chrysler 300 lineup. The 300C Platinum is the only model outside of the $30k range - with a starting MSRP of $42,565. It comes equipped with many of the same features as the 300C such as ParkSense® front / rear park assist system, remote start system,  - but with the addition of a 4-wheel independent touring suspension, 19 Premium Speakers Including Subwoofer, and more.

Chrysler 300 vs. Ford Taurus vs. Toyota Avalon vs. Chevy Impala

We're so confident in our Chrysler 300 that we've decided to compare it against competitors like the Ford Taurus, Toyota Avalon, and Chevy Impala.  When comparing the 300 to the Ford Taurus, we had to move past the entry-level SE and SEL trim, and focus on the Taurus Limited to get an equivalent level of comparable equipment. We also needed to move-up one trim level at Toyota to get comparable equipment in the Toyota Avalon XLE premium and 3 trim levels at Chevrolet to get comparable equipment in the Chevy Impala 2LZ.

Also, this comparison only features the rear-wheel-drive Chrysler 300 - because an all-wheel-drive version isn't available IN ANY TRIM LEVEL for the Chevrolet Impala or the Toyota Avalon. So if you want the sure handling of an all-wheel-drive vehicle, your choices are restricted to only the Ford Taurus AWD and the Chrysler 300 Limited AWD.
